"Innerscapes", by debut author Vivien Ferrars, is an exciting and touching book. At heart it is a volume of poetry. However, the author includes thoughts, memories and quotes throughout to shed some light on her creative process. These poems would be just as effective on their own. However, the additional insight is welcome and allows the reader to further connect with Ferrars' reflections on life, madness, nature, and all the concepts which influence her most.The poetry is rich with strong imagery. It is delicate yet potent. What I found most impressive is that, even though the book remains accessible throughout, I feel the urge to go back and read Ferrars' words again. "Innerscapes" is exactly what the title indicates. It is a broad painting of the self and the world, told passionately in each page. It was a pleasure to read, and I would highly recommend this book to anyone.
